The short version: We collect the account and fishing data you give us, plus basic de-identified usage analytics and crash diagnostics. Your fishing data is private to your account and is never shown to other users or sold. We don't track you across other apps, we don't collect your location or contacts, and you can delete everything from inside the app at any time.
Brandon D. Galvan ("SnapRig," "we," "us") operates the SnapRig mobile app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].
1. Information we collect
You provide
- Account — your email address, for sign-in and account security. Sign-in requires a verified email.
- Fishing data — the tackle, tackle boxes, conditions, shopping lists, notes, and feedback you enter.
- Photos you scan — when you scan a lure package or a fishing spot, the photo is sent for AI analysis (see §3). Photos are not stored on our servers after processing.
Collected automatically
- Usage analytics — basic product-usage events (opening the app, adding an item, running a scan, viewing recommendations, viewing the paywall). These carry only your account identifier and low-detail values (which action, success or failure, simple counts). They never include your fishing content, typed notes or feedback text, your photos, or your location.
- Diagnostics — if the app hits an error, we send technical diagnostic information (error type, a short technical stack, app version) to help us fix problems. This is not linked to your account and does not include your fishing data.
- Subscription status — if you buy a membership, we receive your purchase and subscription status (see §4).
We do NOT collect: your precise or coarse location, your contacts, your photo library (beyond a photo you explicitly pick to scan), microphone/audio, or advertising identifiers. We do not use tracking or serve third-party ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites (Apple App Tracking Transparency is not used; our tracking answer is No).
2. How we use your information
- Provide the core features — recommendations, buildable rigs, your inventory, shopping list, and insights.
- Operate your account, verify your email, and keep the service secure.
- Manage your subscription and confirm entitlement, if you subscribe.
- Understand which features help and where the app is confusing, and fix crashes, using de-identified/aggregate usage data.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to build advertising profiles.
3. How photos are used (AI analysis)
When you scan a lure or a fishing spot, the photo is sent to our image-analysis provider (OpenAI, GPT-4o Vision) to identify tackle or conditions; the structured result is returned to the app. Photos are transmitted for analysis and are not retained on our servers after processing. AI results are estimates and may be imperfect.
4. Subscriptions and payments
SnapRig offers an optional auto-renewable subscription (SnapRig Pro). Purchases are processed by Apple and charged to your Apple ID — we never receive your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage the subscription and confirm its status; RevenueCat receives your account identifier and your purchase/subscription status from the App Store. If you don't subscribe, no purchase data is shared.
5. Who we share it with (service providers)
- Supabase — secure database, authentication, and hosting (stores your account and fishing data).
- OpenAI — image analysis, as in §3 (receives the photo you scan, transiently).
- Sentry — technical crash/error diagnostics (receives error and device-diagnostic information, not your fishing data).
- RevenueCat — subscription management, only if you subscribe (§4).
- Apple — app distribution and payment processing.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the service.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and fishing data until you delete it or delete your account (§8). Usage analytics and diagnostics are retained in de-identified or aggregate form for a limited period to operate and improve the app, subject to our providers' retention policies. Scanned photos are not retained after processing (§3).
7. Data security
Access is protected by per-account database security (row-level security), so each account can only read and write its own data. Sign-in requires a verified email address. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete everything, anytime. From Account → Delete Account, you can permanently delete your account and all associated data. Deletion removes your login and cascades to your tackle, boxes, shopping list, feedback, and usage records.
- Access / correction / export. You can view and edit your data in the app. For any additional request regarding your personal data, contact us at [email protected] and we will respond as required by applicable law.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to certain processing). We honor these where they apply.
9. Children
SnapRig is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International users
SnapRig is operated from, and processes data in, the United States via the providers in §5. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand your information is processed there.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, in the app) and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
